Agency vs self-serve TikTok accounts: which one to buy

The two account types differ in ceilings, targeting and how billing works. Pick based on how you scale, not on price.

TikTok splits advertisers into self-serve and agency structures. The difference matters more than on Meta.

Self-serve

Simple, card-billed, capped ceilings. Fine for a single brand under $5k a month.

Agency

Invoice or prepaid billing through a Business Center, higher ceilings, multi-market targeting. Required if you run several clients.

Our rule of thumb

If you will attach more than two ad accounts in the first month, buy agency.
